To all our valued customers

We have really appreciated your patronage at TATSUMI for the last 6 years in Newmarket, but we are sad to announce that TATSUMI will be closing its doors on 16th December 2017.

We have sold the business and new management will be taking over and opening a new Japanese restaurant in January 2018. Although it is not TATSUMI, we hope you will enjoy the new restaurant.

Since the earthquake 2011 destroyed our restaurant in Christchurch, we have done our best to serve the best Japanese food here in Auckland. You all have been wonderful customers and seeing you enjoy our food over the years has given us so much happiness.

We have decided to return to the South Island and enjoy a new and more relaxing life there. We plan to open a new TATSUMI in Queenstown in the new year and it is new adventure for us. We hope to share more information with you about this soon.

Thank you again for your patronage over the years and we will miss you all greatly.

Kindest regards

Koichi and Yoko

ABOUT

Located in the heart of Newmarket is TATSUMI - a cosy and private Japanese restaurant that serves up an uncomparable fusion of traditional flavours and contemporary cuisine.

Owners Yoko and Koichi relocated to Auckland from Christchurch in October 2011 after they were forced to close down the original TATSUMI following the Canterbury earthquakes. Since moving to Auckland, they have faced the exciting challenge of developing the restaurant in a brand new city.

Having spent 17 years crafting his skill, head chef Koichi has developed a modern Japanese fusion menu that explores and breathes life into Japan’s distinctive cuisine. The success of TATSUMI’s dishes lies in the delicate mix of authenticity and innovation.

With an emphasis on freshness, attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere, TATSUMI is sure to exceed your expectations.
