High End Japanese
Fantastic experience. The restaurant is located on the second floor. Great Nigiri sushi, very fresh ingredients. The green tea fondant topped it off. Service and ambience was superb. Prices certainly reflect the experience, well worth it. I certainly recommend this restaurant to those who are looking for high end Japanese food.

Delightful evening
Relaxed evening meal. Great selection of food with all of them prepared/cooked to perfection. Very polite and courteous staff and the whole decor, ambience and service felt like I was fine dining in the heart of Tokyo. Highly recommend this restaurant and next time I visit I will be sure to come here.

The best Japanese restaurant in Queenstown !
My friends and I can not stop raving about this place, when the other Japanese restaurants were fully booked, we were just about to change cuisine until we saw this new classy set up. Having been to all of the other Japanese restaurants in town, this one is on a whole different level. The service was impeccable. The lovely staff were so friendly, caring and very professional. They were always checking we were happy and it really did feel like I had been taken to Japan all in one dining experience. The food was incredible and could not be faulted, the spicy salmon sushi was a personal favourite and the cocktails were superb. A little pricey as most Japanese places are but between the 3 of us with drinks was only $30 each which is pretty standard ! Plus everything has been thought about in such thorough detail so definitely worth the money. If you are wanting a true Authentic Japanese experience with amazing food and hands down the best service I have experienced in Queenstown, then Tatsumi is your place ! See you again soon !

Elegant and refined
I can only say that I am impressed by the service and crockery used. Not only is the food delicious, the display is like an artist's work of art.
We had the degustation menu and thoroughly enjoyed every dish. There was more than sufficient food for us. If you like degustation menu and refinement, it is definitely worth a try.

‘A taste of Japan in NZ’
Having been to Japan twice and being lucky enough to sample good restaurants there. It was a refreshing surprise to find such a beautifully decorated and traditional Japanese restaurant hidden upstairs in downtown Queenstown.
The food quality, service and presentation was very good. Yet the prices represent excellent value. The selection of Japanese saki and Japanese single malt scotches was a broad selection. And, their wine menu also boasted a good selection of local and imported wines & beers. (They even served Asahi in a steel glass).
The Japanese owners are a husband and wife team doing a sensational job as head chef and manager- front of house. They proudly apply a Zen atmosphere into providing a traditional Japanese dining experience.
We’ll definitely be back.

Exquisite dinner
If you are looking for delicious well presented Japanese food in a traditionally set restaurant than this is the place for you. Food was professionally placed on cool Japanese plates and was fresh and tasty. The hostess Yoko was elegant, delightful and dressed in a Kimono to increase the sense of being in Japan.
As a side this restaurant was highly recommended by the Hotel manager over other Japanese restaurants in town. He was spot on! Visiting Queenstown, do your taste buds a favour and dine at Tatsumi.

Amazing meal, service and atmosphere
This is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have eaten at.
Each dish was amazing, Wagyu was amazing, lamb just incredible and the Sashimi so fresh and beautifully presented.
This is a real secret in Queenstown.
Only new but still to be fully discovered.
We enjoyed the dinner so much we have booked again for tonight to enjoy one of their degustation meals
The service is so polite and efficient, really makes for a very enjoyable evening and truly special dinning.
Recommended as a must try if you love Japanese food and beautiful service

Beyond expectation!
My husband and I were looking for a Japanese restaurant for dinner and came across Tatsumi. We weren’t sure what to expect but decided to take a chance. Lucky we did because the food was amazing. As soon as you walked up the stairs, you are a million miles from the hustle and bustle. It was serene and the waitstaff are so lovely. We ordered the salmon sushi roll, the seafood paradise platter, the twice cooked pork, the karaage chicken and the agadashi tofu. Every plate had an unexpected twist and was presented beautifully. My husband and I were lucky to have found such a great restaurant and we hope the word spreads quickly because it really was very delicious.

THE VERY BEST JAPANESE IN QUEENSTOWN
From arrival with charming hosts, the welcoming and beautiful private room with beautifully laid table to the amazing courses that surprised and delighted all 8 of us local people. Simply the best, beautifully served and explained.
Excellent wine list and not too expensive .
The whole experience was a delight.

Perfection
Fans of Tatsumi since their days, pre earthquakes, in Christchurch we have also dined in their Auckland restaurant before their shift to Queenstown. The setting, the service and of course the food are simply perfection. A few days in Queenstown and we had booked for dinner and thankfully managed to squeeze in a lunch before leaving. Bluff oysters, sashimi platter, tempura prawns and you simply must try the green tea dessert. OMG. Thoroughly recommended.
